Excellent presentation. A reasonable, required,no doubt budget requirement. One suggestion for increased revenue, What about a division of the Ontario Drivers Centre located in Bolton. Now a trip to the far side of Brampton or Orangeville or other access locations. With population increases in Caledon and Bolton a much more readily available location would be welcome for Caledon.

A good thought Lloyd. I took my son to the Drivers Centre in Brampton a couple of Saturdays ago and left after waiting an hour and not even coming close to getting “served”; the wait queue was huge. Len will be taking over and trying Orangeville with him later this week. A quieter Bolton division would be welcome. I’ll start asking questions :)

Thanks for the update Patti! I checked out the presentation on the Town website. Please extend my gratitude to the staff as it was concise and informative. Sorry I can’t be at either of the meetings! Wondering in the future if residents will be able to pose questions to council from the website for those of us who can’t get to the town meetings because of our jobs?

I have reviewed the documents on line and followed the budget process in the local newspaper. I am most concerned with the proposed tax increase and some of the priorities chosen, particularly the large sums going to soccer and the Roderick Johnson Sport Park. The Equestrian Park is a risky venture that may or may not pay back in future years. Although I looked at the various charts, I am not clear how the Hydro reserve fund is being treated.

I would also like to add that funds to outside consultants for various studies should be closely monitored as these can easily become excessive and produce no tangible benefit as often the recommendations are not acted upon and become dated, with the perceived need that a study needs to be done again.

The budget also mentions new fee increase but I was unable to determine which fees these are and how much they are going up. Although I cannot find any fees on the Caledon Wellness Centre website, the last time I checked these are already quite high making the use of the facility prohibitive for many residents.

I do support the need for long term planning and maintenance of our infrastructure.

I would also like to mention that I have been disappointed that in the newspaper articles, little mention has been made about the need to improve services for mental health, homeless, etc. Realizing that these services are funded at various levels of government, I want to know how the council intends to lobby for and support these needs. Addressing these concerns are more important to me than an arts centre, continuing education facility, etc .

Thank you for listening to my concerns and I look forward to your response.

    Sincerely,

    Valerie Cotton
