Daring Dorados

June 24, 2012

Something exciting is happening at Mayfield Recreation Centre. You can feel it in the air. And especially in the pool.

A young and focused coach Pierre-Etienne Lambert, who trained professional swimmers in Quebec,  is breathing new life into this competitive Caledon swim club and the results are starting to show.

This year 9 swimmers from the Dorado Stars Swim Club headed off to the Central Region Long Course Championships in early June. Samantha Hillson (pictured) and Harsimrat Dhaliwal won the bronze in the 100 breaststroke and 200 backstroke respectively.

Competitive swimmers learn more than excellent swimming skills; they learn sportsmanship, develop self-esteem and build friendships. They learn how to challenge themselves and work towards personal goals. And wherever they go they represent Caledon proudly.

Lambert, who will be the Head Coach of the Central Region team at the 2012 Ontario Summer Games, is modest about his impact on this Club but the proof is in the pudding (or make that the pool). These daring Dorados are energized, focussed and on the way to new heights.

If your child loves to swim watch for next season’s registration date in September. You can visit their website at doradostars.ca
